Thanks Janice and Zhang Yi for coming to support too!

Today's Devotion:
Psalms 71 (2 things to note):
1. praying for your future
In this psalm, prayer for our future has been prayer like twice
a prayer of thanksgiving when you were an infant
a prayer of joy as a teenager
a prayer of declaration when you become old
Psalms 71: 5-6
" For You have been my hope, O Soverign Lord, my confidence since my youth. From birth I have relied on You; You brought me forth from my mother's womb. I will ever praise You."
Psalms 71:17-18
" Since my youth, O God, You have taught me, and to this day i declare Your marvelous deeds. Even when I am old and gray, do not forsake me, O God, till i declare Your power to the next generation, Your might to all who are to come."
Not only does it mention us, but our future generations as well.
Isnt it good to keep your future under the guidance of the Lord.
Isnt it good to keep your future generation under the protection of a blessing?
that they may never fall into evil?
Do not look down on prayer
for your future and for your children.
The strength of words are remarkable!
especially for prayer
(but it can be dangerous- do not curse)
2. Struggles aint bad
Psalms 71: 20-21
"Though You have made me see troubles, many and bitter, You will restore my life again; form the depths of the earth You will again bring me up. You will increase my honor and comfort me once again."
Today during cca, mrs gurong said this
"Growing is struggle"
What she meant is that, when we want to grow (spiritually, morally, physically etc)
we can only do that when we face troubles,
when we are tested by challenges God put in our lives.
Everyday,
we learn something new( refering to good)
and challenges God place in our lives are just tests that show us whether or not we truely learn something.
example: lets say for running
we want to be a good runner, therefore we train everyday
but what determines whether we truely obtain that title of being a good runner?
a competition! whether we do well or not.
Joy said to me this before,
"Difficulties are like opportunities in workclothes"
we overcome them not by sitting down and waiting for something to happen
but we overcome them by facing them
yes, the process in tough, but the reward is truely sweet.
no pain; no gain.
think about this,
what are some of the rewards we will receive when overcoming a challenge?
Overcoming challenges= YOU! becoming a stronger and wiser person!
thus, problems are nothing to mourn about,
but something to give thanks!
Sing Praise at all times!
Cause God does things for a purpose.
