love dare:
day 3: love is not selfish
- the culture around us teaches us to focus on our appearance, feelings and personal desires as the top piority
- selfishness is a triat we hate in other people but justify in ourselves
- one ironic aspect of selfishness is that even generous actions can be selfish if the motive is to gain braggin rights or receive a reward
- love is never sastified except in the welfare of others
- love also leads to inner joy
"do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but with humility of mind regard one another as more important than yourselves" Philippians 2:3
day 4:love is thoughtful
- love thoughts procede loving actions
- love teaches you how to meet in the middle, to respect and appreciate how your __person__ uniquely thinks
- the thoughtful nature of love teaches you to engage your mind before engaging your lips. love thinks before speaking
day 5:love is not rude
- rudeness is unnecessarily saying or doing things that are unpleasant for another person to be around to be rude is to act umbecoming, embarrassing, or irritating\
- genuine love minds its manners
- people who practice good etiquette tend to raise the respect level of the environment around them
- why people are rude: ignorance and selfishness
- 3 guilding principals:
- guard the golden rule- treat the person like how you want to be treated
- no double standards- be as considerate to the person as you are to strangers and coworkers
- honor requests
happy birthday gerald......
